Different LGBT communities may use different words to describe themselves. This glossary provides an overview of some common terms used by many LGBT people.
Coming out means telling someone something about yourself that isn’t immediately obvious. In relation to sexual orientation and gender identity, this means sharing with others that you are lesbian, gay, bi and/or trans (LGBT).
Gender identity is how a person feels and who they know them self to be when it comes to their gender. There are many different gender identities, including male, female, transgender, gender neutral, non-binary, agender and pangender.
Pride month is about teaching tolerance, education in pride history and continuing to move forward in equality. It’s all about being proud of who you are no matter who you love.
